Circle Resources
Check-Ins are used to help check student emotional well being at the beginning of the day, lesson, or transition period. It allows the teacher, administrator, facilitator the opportunity to check in with the students in a more engaging way.
Check-Outs can be used to check for understanding of the content at the end of the academic lesson or for next steps in the application of a behavioral lesson.
Academic Circles are great for introducing new content at the beginning of a unit. A circle in its basic form is a structured conversation. This one is centered around academic topics.
Community Building Circles are created and led so that the members of the circle are able to discuss topics that lead them to creating a bond with one another. This takes time, but using Community Building Circles helps to build trust within the group so that when issues arise there is an opportunity for the group members to rely on that trust to repair the relationship.

Topic Circles are circles that are used to cover various topics that arise day to day in the classroom. They can range from homework to getting along with classmates. They are similar to Community Building circles in that they help to build trust but these circles tend to be more stand alone topics were Community Building circles can build on each other from one circle to the next.
